Most loft spaces are wasted space. Right now yours is probably three sheets of chipboard balanced across the joists, a torch, and a genuine risk of putting a foot through the ceiling. So the Christmas decorations live in the garage, the suitcases live under the bed, and the spare room isn't spare. Boarding straight onto the joists isn't the answer either. It crushes your insulation flat, which costs you heat, and it blocks the airflow your roof timbers need.
A raised loft boarding system solves both at once: a proper floor at a safe working height, with your insulation left at full depth underneath it.

✅ Raised loft boarding
A full storage deck above your insulation. Safe for 25kg per m² long-term, 150kg per m² when you're up there moving about. From £650.
✅ Loft insulation top-up
Brought up to the 270mm the Energy Saving Trust recommends, using A1 non-combustible glass mineral wool with no added formaldehyde.
✅ Loft ladders
Fitted the same day as your boarding, so you're not climbing a stepladder into a hole.
✅ Loft hatches
Enlarged, insulated and draught-sealed. Most original hatches are too small to get a suitcase through.
✅ Loft lighting
A switch at the bottom of the ladder instead of a torch between your teeth.
✅ Truss shelving
Shelving fitted between the trusses in newer properties — storage you didn't know you had.

Please reach us at info@loftsure.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Predominantly Essex & Hertfordshire but it's not unusual to find us in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, London and Kent too!
In the vast majority of cases the work is completed in a single day, larger more complex projects can take a little longer but our surveyor will confirm timescales with you following your survey
Absolutely not! No work that we carry out will impact your new build / NHBC warranty in any way. We do not make structural alterations and the raised loft boarding systems that we use protect your insulation and maintain the required airflow
Absolutely, we're so confident of the quality of our raised loft boarding that it comes with a lifetime warranty as standard (for as long as you live in / own the property)
No. Raised loft boarding for storage purposes does not require planning permission. We do not create a habitable room / loft conversion so no additional permissions are necessary
Very little, our highly trained installers are used to working in peoples homes, dust sheets are always used from when we first enter your home. Once the work is complete we will tidy away any waste material, remove the protective sheets and hoover to leave your home as clean as we are able
All that we require is clear access to the area below the hatch and that the loft is empty of belongings / waste material (unless we have agreed otherwise)
For the boarding, insulation, hatches and ladders ALL of the work is carried out by our experienced employees, they are all trained carpenters and are fully insured and DBS checked. The only occasion that we would subcontract is for elements that are outside of our skill set, electrical, plastering, etc. This would be made clear from the outset
Absolutely, age is no barrier! During our free no obligation survey a full assessment is made regarding the suitability of the structure, insulation, access and ventilation
The raised loft boarding systems that we use are safe to carry long-term loads of up to 25kg per square metre, with temporary loads of up to 150kg per square metre to allow you to access and move around the loft. The systems themselves would actually hold a far greater weight but the limits are in place to protect the structure of your loft. You can safely store typical household items, suitcases, Christmas decorations, crates, boxes, etc, they key is to spread the weight as evenly as possible, avoid having a pile of heavy things in one place
Truss shelving is shelving fitted between the trusses in your loft, this tends only to be possible in newer properties as older roof construction methods don't have the necessary supporting timbers. Our surveyor would confirm suitability following survey. The truss shelving is constructed from exactly the same materials as our loft boarding, this means that the weight limitations are the same, maximum 25kg per square metre. Truss shelving is a great solution for utilising additional space!
Because every home and homeowner is different the cost would be determined by your requirements, the size of the area to be boarded (we don't have to board the full loft, in many instances we recommend the area with the easiest access and most available height but this is driven by your needs) and any additional products that you require, insulation top up, removals, hatches, ladders, lighting, etc. All of this is discussed with you following your survey. A scale plan of your loft will be produced and an itemised quote with a breakdown of the different elements to enable you to make an informed choice
No, never. Our surveyors are exactly that, they are there to assess the possibilities and provide you with a recommendation based on their findings and discussion with you. WE NEVER UPSELL, the key to our success is finding a solution tailored to your needs that aligns with your budget not to make the job as big as possible! Ultimately, we can do as much or as little as you require
If your insulation is missing / not thick enough a significant amount of heat can escape through your roof. Upgrading your insulation to the recommended level will help your home retain warmth more effectively, reducing unnecessary heat loss and improving comfort
As part of every survey we assess the condition and depth of your current insulation. Many older properties fall sort of the levels recommended by The Energy Saving Trust, 270mm, particularly where the insulation has been compressed or disturbed. Bringing your insulation to the recommended level will help your home retain heat for longer, making it easier to keep your living space comfortable
Absolutely! We don't have to install anything that you do not need
Of course, we use a Glass Mineral Wool based product that is non-combustible and has an A1 Euroclass fire rating and contains no added formaldehyde. It is specifically designed with energy efficiency safety, and comfort in mind
Great space! Fully boarded modern trussed loft
